Chaney rezoning issue makes front page of the Indy

One noteworthy comment:  Reed Faasen, Planning Department, is quoted as saying that community commercial zoning is more consistent with the Hughesville Revitalization Plan.  That's like saying there is going to be a beauty pageant (Revitalization Plan), and Hughesville only has two girls that can enter - one is horribly ugly and the other is just very ugly.  The very ugly girl has a better shot of winning if she enters the pageant, than the horribly ugly girl.  Yes, the very ugly girl's odds of winning (being more consistent) are minutely better, but, we all know she doesn't have a snowball's chance in hell of actually winning (complimenting or being consistent with the Revitalization Plan).

I would also like to remind everyone, including Mr. Faasen and the Commissioners, that the decision for the rezoning amendment is based on whether a mistake was made in the original zoning or if there has been a significant change in the character of the neighborhood. No where in the article is this mentioned.

"more consistent" is more like saying, "it's close".

Close only counts in horse shoes and hand granades. Looks like we are being thrown another hand granade...by our Charles County Commissioner's. I think we have found the "Weapons of Mass Distruction".
